God Gave Me One Perfect Kick. I Used It On A Bentley
Let me set the scene. Laguna Beach parking lot. Summer. I'm maybe twelve years old, kicking a soccer ball around with my friends because we had nowhere else to be and too much energy. At some point someone said "kick it as high as you can." I am not a professional athlete. I am not even a particularly athletic child. But in that moment, I connected with that ball in a way I have never replicated since. Perfectly clean strike. Full power. The ball went almost completely vertical — straight up, like it had somewhere to be. We all watched it go up. Then we watched it come down. Time slowed in a way I did not know was possible outside of movies. The ball descended in a perfect arc, directly onto the windshield of the nicest car in the parking lot. A Bentley.
